Start to a pinup project

I have been wanting to do a serious pin up project for a while now and thought trying to do a Kickstarter project would be the best way to fund it. Things have been moving a little slow with it so I decided to do a few images to give people an idea of how it's going to look. I got my new friend Jackie to come out and these are what we were able to come up with.
For this image I had a VERY large softbox lighting the background and on a boom arm above her. Then camera left I had a 53" octabox and camera right I had a hard light with a 10 degree grid on it to control the way the light spilled on the scene.
For this one I turned off the large overhead light and the big octa became the main light camera left and then I used the flash with the grid to light just the bears head since the dark fur absorbs so much of the softer light.
If you like what you see here please check out the Kickstarter project and help fund the project or just share this link with your friends that would be a big help as well. Thanks

Minnesota Renaissance Festival

These are my favorite people shots from the festival. Everything was shot with my D800 and my 70-200mm then processed in Adobe Lightroom

A little late night sax

The other night I got to shoot with Brett Cease a talented musician here in Bemidji. Typically I would have brought out a selection of Nikon SB speedlights but I just got a new Elinchrom Ranger Quadra set up to play with so I brought that out with me. I had the Quadra head on a C-stand camera left and up high with the boom arm out and over Brett with a 20 degree grid screen to help control the spill of light and making it look like the light coming from the street light. Shot with a Nikon D300 and a 16-85mm.

Back to Zuma

Since I have been back in Minnesota I've been revisiting my images from LA since I haven't been able to get out and shoot around here much. This image was taken at Zuma Beach in the last rays of daylight avoiding the life guards that were patrolling the beach. Used a Nikon D300 and a 20mm Nikon lens, processed in Adobe Lightroom.

Day 24

An image from my last time shooting at Venice Beach. Here I had an SB-900 camera left and zoomed to 200mm to help control the spread of light. The thing I don't like about this is the glare off of the shiny paint.

Day 23 From here to Starbucks

Tonight on my way home from Starbucks the light was amazing so I spent the two block walk shooting everything that jumped out at me. Its amazing how things that I have walked past twenty times and never noticed stand out in the right light.

Everything shot with a 35mm 1.8, handheld and processed in Lightroom 3.
